Exposure-in-residence theory

A legal principle, primarily in environmental liability insurance, that determines when property damage or bodily injury is considered to have occurred for coverage purposes. This theory posits that damage or injury occurs continuously over the period that the harmful condition or substance is present. It is often applied in cases of gradual pollution or long-term toxic exposure.
