Front pay

Monetary damages awarded in employment discrimination cases to compensate a plaintiff for lost future earnings that would have been earned if not for the discriminatory act. It is typically awarded when reinstatement to the former position is not feasible or appropriate, such as due to ongoing hostility in the workplace. Front pay is calculated to cover the period from the date of judgment until the plaintiff can reasonably obtain comparable employment.
