Interim status

A temporary status under RCRA, the federal hazardous waste law, that lets an existing hazardous waste treatment, storage, or disposal facility keep operating while its permit application is pending, once it has notified the EPA and filed a Part A application. The facility must meet interim status standards, which include financial requirements such as insurance for third-party injury and damage of at least 1 million dollars per sudden accidental occurrence.
