Clean closure

The process of closing a hazardous waste management facility by removing or decontaminating all hazardous waste and hazardous waste residues. This method eliminates the need for post-closure care and financial assurance requirements. It is achieved when residual contamination levels meet health-based standards established by environmental regulations.
