Latent defect

A hidden flaw or imperfection in a product, material, or structure that is not discoverable by reasonable inspection but exists at the time of manufacture or construction. This type of defect only becomes apparent after a period of use or under specific conditions, leading to unexpected failure or damage. Many insurance policies exclude coverage for losses arising from latent defects.
