Parol evidence

Oral or extrinsic evidence that is not contained within the written terms of a contract. In insurance law, the parol evidence rule generally prevents parties from introducing such evidence to contradict, vary, or add to the terms of a fully integrated written insurance policy. This rule aims to uphold the finality and integrity of written agreements, though exceptions exist for ambiguities or fraud.
