Perfluoroalkyl substances
Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-002546
A group of synthetic chemicals used in many industrial and consumer products for their resistance to heat, water, and oil. Due to their persistence in the environment and potential health effects, these substances create long-tail liability risks for manufacturers, users, and property owners through claims for bodily injury, property damage, and environmental cleanup. Insurers address this exposure through specific policy exclusions or by applying absolute pollution exclusions.
