Bioremediation

A process that uses microorganisms or their enzymes to return the environment altered by contaminants to its original condition. This technique is applied to clean up hazardous substances, such as oil spills or chemical leaks, in soil or water. Commercial liability policies may cover the costs associated with bioremediation for pollution incidents.
