Unearned reinsurance premium

The portion of a reinsurance premium that has been paid by the ceding insurer to the reinsurer but for which the reinsurance coverage has not yet been provided. Similar to direct unearned premiums, this amount represents a liability for the reinsurer. It is recognized as revenue over the remaining term of the reinsurance contract.
