Uninsured motorists (UM) coverage

Protection for an insured person who is involved in an accident with a driver who does not have any auto liability insurance. UM coverage typically pays for bodily injury and, in some states, property damage that the uninsured driver would have been legally obligated to pay. This coverage is mandatory in many states and provides a financial safety net for victims of uninsured drivers.
