Antique firearm

A firearm manufactured in or before 1898, or a replica thereof, that is not designed to use fixed ammunition or uses fixed ammunition no longer manufactured. These firearms are often exempt from certain federal regulations regarding sales, transfers, and registration. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) defines specific criteria for this classification.
