Bail bondsman

A person or agency that pledges money or property as collateral to a court to secure the release of a defendant from custody. The bondsman guarantees the defendant's appearance in court for all scheduled proceedings. If the defendant fails to appear, the bondsman is responsible for the full bail amount, often employing bounty hunters to locate and return the defendant.
