Bondsman

A person or company that acts as a surety and pledges money or property as bail for the appearance of a criminal defendant in court. The bondsman charges a fee, typically a percentage of the bail amount, and guarantees that the defendant will appear for all scheduled court dates. If the defendant fails to appear, the bondsman is responsible for the full bail amount.
