A type of equitable action brought to prevent an anticipated future injury or wrong, rather than to seek redress for a past one. The Latin phrase means 'because he fears.' This remedy is invoked when there is a strong apprehension of harm that has not yet occurred, such as to prevent the negotiation of a forged instrument.
