Equitable estoppel

A legal doctrine that prevents a party from asserting a claim or right that contradicts a previous statement or action, if another party reasonably relied on that statement or action to their detriment. It is invoked to prevent injustice when one party's conduct has misled another. The elements typically include a representation, reliance, and resulting injury.
