Blackmail

The crime of demanding money, property, or another advantage from a person under a threat to reveal damaging information about them or to accuse them of wrongdoing. Many American statutes treat blackmail as a form of extortion, a broader offense that also covers threats of violence or property damage, while England defines it as a separate offense under the Theft Act 1968.
