Circuit court

A court that holds sessions at different locations within a specific judicial district or circuit. In the United States federal system, the Circuit Courts of Appeals are intermediate appellate courts that hear appeals from the district courts within their geographic jurisdiction. Many state judicial systems also have circuit courts, which function as trial courts of general jurisdiction, hearing both civil and criminal cases.
