Conspiracy

An agreement between two or more persons to commit an unlawful act or to accomplish a lawful act by unlawful means. The agreement itself, coupled with an overt act in furtherance of the scheme, constitutes the crime, even if the underlying unlawful act is never completed. Penalties for conspiracy vary widely depending on the nature of the intended offense.
