Constable

A peace officer whose authority and duties are defined by state or local law. In many jurisdictions, constables serve legal documents like summonses and subpoenas, execute court orders such as evictions, and provide security for justice of the peace courts. In some states, they possess full police powers, including the ability to make arrests and conduct criminal investigations, while in others their role is purely civil.
