The specific jurisdiction's laws that govern the interpretation and enforcement of a contract or legal dispute. Parties often include a choice-of-law clause in their agreements to designate which state or country's laws will apply. In the absence of such a clause, courts determine the controlling law based on conflict of laws principles.
