Court of equity

A judicial body that applies principles of fairness and justice to resolve disputes, rather than strictly adhering to common law rules. These courts provide remedies such as injunctions or specific performance, which are not available in courts of law. Historically, England had separate courts of equity, but in the United States, most jurisdictions have merged law and equity into a single court system.
