Davis-Bacon Act

A United States federal law that mandates prevailing wages for laborers and mechanics employed on public works projects. It requires contractors and subcontractors working on federally funded construction, alteration, or repair contracts to pay their workers no less than the local prevailing wages and fringe benefits. The Department of Labor determines these prevailing wage rates.
