The United States federal department responsible for occupational safety, wage and hour standards, unemployment insurance benefits, reemployment services, and some economic statistics. It administers and enforces over 180 federal laws, including the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Occupational Safety and Health Act. The Department of Labor (DOL) also protects workers' pension rights and provides job training programs.
