Fair Labor Standards Act

A federal law, known as the FLSA, that establishes minimum wage, overtime pay, recordkeeping, and child labor standards affecting full-time and part-time workers in the private sector and in federal, state, and local governments. It requires employers to pay covered non-exempt employees at least the federal minimum wage and overtime pay of one and one-half times their regular rate of pay for hours worked over 40 in a workweek.
