Exempt employee

An employee who is not subject to the minimum wage or overtime pay provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). To qualify as exempt, an employee must meet specific tests regarding their job duties and salary level. Common exemptions include executive, administrative, professional, and outside sales employees.
