An individual who works for another person or entity (the employer) under an express or implied contract of employment, where the employer has the right to control the manner and means by which the work is performed. Employees are typically subject to income tax withholding, FICA taxes, and are covered by labor laws such as minimum wage and overtime regulations. This status differs from that of an independent contractor.
