A federal agency within the United States Department of Labor responsible for setting and enforcing workplace safety and health standards. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was created by the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970. It conducts inspections, investigates workplace incidents, and can issue citations and penalties to employers for non-compliance with its regulations.
