Ostensible agent

An individual who appears to have authority to act on behalf of another person or entity, even if no formal agency relationship exists. This appearance of authority arises from the principal's words or conduct, leading a third party to reasonably believe the agent has power to act. The principal may be bound by the agent's actions if the third party relied on this apparent authority.
