Ostensible authority

The power of an agent to act on behalf of a principal, as perceived by a third party, due to the principal's words or conduct. This authority is not explicitly granted but is inferred from the principal's actions or inactions that lead others to reasonably believe the agent has such power. It is also known as apparent authority.
