Deposit account

A financial account maintained by a bank or other financial institution where funds are held for a customer. These accounts include checking accounts, savings accounts, and money market accounts. Funds in a deposit account are typically insured by government agencies up to a certain limit, such as by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in the United States.
