Dicta

Statements or observations made by a judge in an opinion that are not necessary to the resolution of the case. These pronouncements, known as obiter dicta, do not form part of the binding precedent of the case. While not legally controlling, dicta can sometimes influence future judicial reasoning or provide guidance on legal principles.
