Disproportionate impact

A legal concept where a policy or practice, while appearing neutral, has a significantly greater negative effect on one group compared to others. This is often examined in civil rights law to identify systemic discrimination, even without proof of discriminatory intent. It is closely related to the concept of disparate impact in employment law.
