Donation

A voluntary transfer of property from one person, the donor, to another, the donee, without receiving consideration in return. For the gift to be legally valid, the donor must have donative intent, the property must be delivered, and the donee must accept it. Donations are classified as either inter vivos, made during the donor's lifetime, or testamentary, which take effect upon the donor's death as specified in a will.
