Gift

A voluntary transfer of property from one person (the donor) to another (the donee) without consideration or compensation. For a gift to be legally effective, there must be an intent to give, delivery of the property, and acceptance by the donee. Gifts can be inter vivos, meaning made during the donor's lifetime, or testamentary, made through a will.
