Eavesdropping

The act of secretly listening to a private conversation or communication without the consent of the parties involved. This often involves the use of electronic devices to intercept oral or wire communications. Federal and state laws, such as Title III of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968, prohibit unauthorized eavesdropping.
