Executory remainder
Term · Law · MLC-T-LAW-001975
A future interest in land that passes to a person only if an uncertain event occurs, or to a person who cannot yet be identified, the older name for a contingent remainder. No present interest passes when it is created. Modern law separates it from the executory interest, which either cuts short a prior estate or begins at a future date without following a prior estate.
