Fire insurance

A form of property insurance that covers damage and losses caused by fire. The policy compensates the owner or user of a property for losses to the structure and its contents, up to the policy's limit. Standard fire insurance policies cover damage from flames, smoke, and water used to extinguish the fire, but exclude certain events like arson by the policyholder.
