Fraudulent Transfer Act

A statute that allows creditors to void certain transfers of property made by a debtor if the transfers were intended to defraud creditors or if they rendered the debtor insolvent without receiving reasonably equivalent value. This act prevents debtors from shielding assets from legitimate claims. The Uniform Fraudulent Transfer Act (UFTA) and its successor, the Uniform Voidable Transactions Act (UVTA), are widely adopted in the United States.
