Grand jury witness

An individual compelled by subpoena to provide testimony or physical evidence to a grand jury during a confidential, non-adversarial proceeding. Unlike trial witnesses, they are questioned by a prosecutor without a judge or defense attorney present. A witness before a grand jury has a Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination but can be granted immunity by the prosecutor in exchange for their testimony.
