Habeas corpus ad subjiciendum

A writ, issued by a court, requiring a person holding another in custody to produce the prisoner in court and show a valid legal reason for the detention. This legal action challenges the lawfulness of a person's imprisonment or detention. It is a fundamental safeguard against arbitrary arrest and unlawful imprisonment, enshrined in many legal systems.
