Writ of coram nobis
Term · Law · MLC-T-LAW-005267
A legal order that allows a court to correct a fundamental error of fact in one of its own prior judgments. This extraordinary remedy is sought by a person who has already completed their sentence and is therefore no longer in custody, making a writ of habeas corpus unavailable. The petitioner must show that a fact existed at the time of trial which, if known, would have prevented the conviction.
