Peremptory writ of mandate

A court order compelling a public official or body to perform a specific, non-discretionary duty. This writ is issued when the petitioner has a clear legal right to the performance of the act and the respondent has a clear legal duty to perform it. It is a final order, issued after a hearing, and requires immediate compliance.
