Writ of coram vobis
Term · Law · MLC-T-LAW-005268
A common law writ, largely obsolete in modern practice, that was issued by an appellate court to a lower court to correct an error of fact that occurred in the lower court's proceedings. Unlike a writ of error, which addressed errors of law, coram vobis focused on factual errors not apparent on the record. Most jurisdictions now address such errors through motions for new trial or other post-conviction remedies.
