A monetary obligation imposed by a court order, requiring one party to pay a specific sum to another. This debt arises after a lawsuit concludes with a judgment in favor of the plaintiff. The amount includes the principal award, pre-judgment interest, and often court costs and attorney fees, and remains enforceable for a period defined by statute, such as ten years in many jurisdictions.
