Larceny by trick

The crime of obtaining possession of personal property from another through misrepresentation or deceit, with the intent to permanently deprive the owner of it. The owner voluntarily parts with possession, but not title, due to the trick. This differs from false pretenses, where the owner intends to transfer both possession and title.
