Long cause
Term · Law · MLC-T-LAW-003092
A civil case, in California practice, whose estimated trial time exceeds five hours and which is therefore set on the long cause calendar rather than the short cause track. California Rules of Court rule 3.735 defines a short cause case as one expected to take five hours or less, and every other civil case is long cause.
