Misunderstanding

A situation in contract law where parties attach different meanings to a material term of an agreement, preventing the formation of a true meeting of the minds. If the misunderstanding is mutual and concerns a central aspect of the contract, it can render the agreement void. This differs from a unilateral mistake, where only one party is mistaken.
