National treatment

A principle in international law and trade agreements requiring a country to treat foreign goods, services, or intellectual property no less favorably than it treats its own domestic equivalents. This aims to prevent protectionist policies that discriminate against foreign products once they have entered the domestic market. The World Trade Organization (WTO) agreements widely incorporate this principle.
