Foreign divorce

A divorce decree granted by a court in a country other than the one where the parties reside or where their marriage was originally recognized. The recognition and enforceability of a foreign divorce in another jurisdiction depend on the laws of that jurisdiction and international agreements. Many countries have specific rules regarding the validity of divorces obtained abroad.
