Necessary inference

A conclusion that must logically follow from a set of established facts or premises, rather than merely being a possible or probable conclusion. In legal contexts, a necessary inference is often treated as equivalent to direct evidence. Courts frequently rely on necessary inferences when direct proof is unavailable.
